Improve Your Smile with Invisalign
During your initial appointment at White House Family Dental Care in White House, Tennessee, our dentist will conduct a thorough evaluation of your bite and oral health to determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign. If you are, our dentist will take digital 3D impressions of your teeth and begin the process of planning your treatment. Estimated treatment times will vary from patient to patient, but you can expect yours to last at least 9 to 12 months, if not longer. If you are not a good candidate for Invisalign, our dentist will discuss alternative options with you, such as conventional braces.
Getting Your Aligners
You'll return to our office when your aligners are ready. Our dentist will instruct you on how to properly wear them, clean them and when to switch to the next set in the series. Typically, you'll wear one set of aligners for at least 22 hours per day for about 2 weeks before moving on to the next set. Because the aligners are removable, you can easily clean them and your teeth and gums, which will ensure you maintain good oral health throughout your treatment.
You'll return to our office every four to six weeks for follow-up appointments. During these visits, our dentist will monitor your progress to ensure you're sitll on track to complete your treatment in the estimated timeframe. We'll also provide you with new aligners at these appointments so you can continue your treatment.
Most patients will have to wear a retainer even after they've completed their treatment. The retainer will closely resemble the Invisalign aligners to which you've grown accustomed. It will be made of clear plastic and will be custom-made to fit comfortably over your teeth. Without a retainer, you risk having your teeth shift out of alignment again. Fortunately, most patients only need to wear a retainer at night, making it even more convenient than the treatment itself.
